Job summary

Carnegie Learning is seeking Part-Time Tutor Instructors to provide virtual academic support for K-5 Math and ELA in a remote USA setting. Sessions run Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5:00pm–7:30pm EST, with onboarding starting January 4, 2027 and tutoring beginning January 19, 2027.

You will use Carnegie Learning materials to deliver one-on-one or small-group instruction, build positive connections with students, and check understanding throughout lessons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM- or literacy-related field.
• Current, valid teaching license or certification in the United States (US).
• Experience teaching or supporting grades K-12.
• Experience using Common Core State Standards in Mathematics or ELA.
• Student-centered teaching style with relationship-building and adaptability.
• Professional communication, dependable follow-through, and openness to feedback and coaching.
• Reliable access to a computer, high-speed internet, webcam, and microphone.
• U.S. residency and work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare to Teach: Review provided lesson materials and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction.
• Connect With Students: Create a welcoming virtual environment and build relationships with K-5 learners.
• Deliver Virtual Instruction: Lead Math and ELA sessions using Carnegie Learning lessons and virtual tools.
• Check for Understanding: Use questions to assess understanding and adjust instruction.
• Support Different Learning Needs: Provide encouragement, scaffolding, and extension as needed.
• Use Data and Feedback: Use student information and coaching feedback to improve instruction.
• Communicate and Follow Through: Maintain attendance, complete documentation and training on time.
• Grow With Coaching: Participate in onboarding, observations, and coaching to improve student experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in STEM or literacy-related field

Teaching license or certification (US)

Experience teaching or supporting grades K-12
