Job summary

Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, seeks a Junior SIEM/UEBA Engineer to support a federal client in Washington, DC. This role focuses on SIEM/UEBA administration, log ingestion, detection tuning, and incident monitoring within a regulated government environment.

The ideal candidate is an early-career cybersecurity professional with a foundational knowledge of SIEM and UEBA, log management, and security operations, eager to grow under senior guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 1–3 years of cybersecurity operations experience or closely related discipline.
• Foundational hands-on experience with at least one enterprise SIEM (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, Elastic SIEM).
• Basic understanding of log management across Windows, Linux, and network devices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government background investigation and IT access authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration, tuning, and optimization of enterprise SIEM and UEBA platforms.
• Onboard log sources, develop detection rules, and validate data ingestion.
• Tune and document SIEM detections, alert logic, and dashboards.
• Monitor platform health and escalate anomalies to senior engineers.
• Develop dashboards and reports for continuous monitoring and compliance.
• Support compliance reporting and change management procedures.
