Job summary

The New York State Education Department's Office of Information and Reporting Services seeks an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) to develop and maintain IT systems written in PHP, JAVA, PL/SQL, and SQL.

You will analyze system requirements, troubleshoot problems, coordinate data exchanges, and ensure proper documentation of the systems supporting New York's education data collection and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science with 15 semester credit hours.
• Or bachelor's degree in any field plus one year IT experience.
• Or 60 semester credit hours in computer science plus one year IT experience.
• Programming experience in PHP, JAVA, C++, C#, JavaScript, and PL/SQL.
• Experience with database querying and coding IDEs for application development.
• Experience with code repositories and workflow management tools.
• Current 55b/c eligibility letter preferred for 55b/c appointment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain IT systems written in PHP, JAVA, PL/SQL, and SQL.
• Analyze system requirements and troubleshoot problems.
• Coordinate data exchanges between systems.
• Ensure proper documentation of systems and processes.
• Support NY education data collection and reporting activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science with 15 semester credit hours
