Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Five years of full-time construction experience within the last ten years.
• Up to four years substitution with 30 college semester hours.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct learning activities of adult incarcerated students.
• Follow the Windham School District curriculum guides for assignment areas.
• Participate in district staff development programs as required.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
• Participate in all evaluations and self-studies as required by TEA and contracting agency.
• Serve on curriculum, textbooks and other committees as assigned.
• Maintain lesson plans per WSD policy.
• Maintain accurate attendance records as prescribed by WSD.
• Submit reports as required by program needs and admin requests.
• Give clear oral and written instructions to students.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom with firmness and fairness.
• Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth.
• Prepare and use diverse methods to teach basic concepts.
• Plan activities for individual student needs and engage students.
• Administer diagnostic and other tests as required by the principal.
• Arrange seating, materials and displays to align with instructional aims.
• Follow policies on instructional materials, equipment and textbooks.
• Ensure proper checkout of materials and report defects.
• Apply knowledge and media in a systems approach to instruction.
• Comply with WSD and Texas Department of Criminal Justice policies.
• Maintain progress records as directed by WSD policies.
• Follow statutory and agency regulations.
• Collaborate with staff on goals, objectives and policy.
• Show progress in meeting performance targets and improvement plans.
• Develop and evaluate ideas to improve performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
• Duties include professional attendance and adherence to Windham policies.
• Uphold ethics and standards per 19 TAC Chapter 247.
