Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg is seeking a remote, part-time International Student Advisor to join the Cranwell International Center team. The ISA provides advising on immigration, employment, and academic matters, ensuring compliance with university policies and federal regulations to support international students toward graduation.

As a Designated School Official (DSO), you will process immigration documents for F-1 students, manage SEVIS records, and provide virtual advising and proactive

Qualifications

• Master's degree and/or equivalent related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver professional presentations.
• Active involvement with NAFSA: Association of International Educators or other higher education associations.
• Prior experience working with international student populations in a higher education setting.
• Previous designation as a Designated School Official (DSO).
• Demonstrated proficiency using the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
• Experience as an Alternate Responsible Officer.
• Experience with Banner or other Student Information Systems.
• Experience with Sunapsis or other student immigration management software.
• Experience providing virtual advising and student support.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with university policies and DHS regulations.
• Process and sign immigration documents for F-1 visa holders as DSO.
• Manage SEVIS records and immigration data.
• Support international students to promote retention and graduation.
