CALIFORNIA MINORITY COUNSEL Program seeks an Insurance Litigation Attorney to manage a docket of litigated and non-litigated files while mentoring junior attorneys. The role requires California bar admission, 5–8+ years of insurance defense and trial experience, and strong advocacy skills.

Travel for depositions and trials is expected, with remote work options available for candidates nationwide. The ideal candidate will handle discovery, pleadings, and trial briefs with input from claims

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years in insurance defense with courtroom and first or second chair trial experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with paralegal(s) and support staff.
  • Requires law degree.
  • License to practice law in California required; skilled in personal injury litigation including liability, causation, damages, coverage, and tri-partite relationship.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an organized and timely manner.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and online research tools.
  • Ability to advocate creatively, persuasively and effectively.
  • Ability to think and act independently in a client’s best interest.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of legal ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage an inventory of litigated and non-litigated files.
  • Advise and mentor less senior attorneys.
  • Travel for depositions, mediations, and trials when appropriate.
  • Prepare discovery, legal pleadings, and trial briefs with input from claims specialists.
  • Appear and advocate on behalf of CSAA IG and its member insureds.
  • Conduct all phases of personal injury litigation including jury trials, motions, and arbitrations.
