Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks a Regional Immunization Nurse Consultant to provide advanced clinical guidance and leadership in immunization programs. This role supports the Immunization Branch and external providers, including Vaccines for Children site visits, policy interpretation, and program development.

The position offers a fully remote work option and is federally funded.

Qualifications

• Advanced nursing knowledge and judgment in immunization.
• Experience coaching clinical staff and delivering education.
• Familiarity with immunization guidelines and program requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with state agencies and health care providers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct VFC site visits to assess immunization requirements and identify clinical needs.
• Evaluate nursing policies and service delivery in health departments and private settings.
• Provide advanced clinical consultation to staff, the Epi Section, and external entities.
• Develop interventions to address immunization needs and improve programs.
• Consult and educate hospitals and private practices on immunization topics.
• Independently resolve minor clinical issues and support policy development.
