Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Systems Design Engineer to design, configure, and operate complete building control systems including fire, security, and low voltage subsystems for projects from a remote location with significant travel. You will work with field teams to ensure quality and timely delivery, and provide detailed submittals to customers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum 3 years' experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
• Understanding of control theory and building automation systems.
• Experience with JCI software programming.
• Experience integrating low voltage building subsystems using protocols (LON, BACnet).
• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Designs and configures complex building control systems per contract documents (fire, security, low voltage subsystems).
• Develops and tests software programs to operate the system per project requirements.
• Provides submittals and communicates design/operation to customers, field teams and subcontractors.
• Coordinates drawings, equipment schedules, and material orders; tracks delivery.
• Assists in loading, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting with contractors.
