WSP Global Inc. seeks a Substation Project Manager for its Power & Energy Management Team in Texas.

The role manages technical, schedules, quality, and financials for high voltage/substation projects while developing client relationships and marketing WSP’s Power Delivery services to existing and new clients in the South and Southwest Region. Based in Houston, Austin, or Fort Worth with the ability to work remotely from any mutually acceptable location.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry.
• Minimum of 5 years applicable industry experience working and/or providing engineering services for IOUs, IPPs, Co-Ops, Munis, etc.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility scale clients for high voltage and/or extra high voltage substation type projects.
• Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools required, including: Contract Management, External and Internal Team Meeting Management, Earned Value Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management (CPM project schedules such as Primavera P6 or equivalent), Financial Management.

Responsibilities

• Provide PM leadership for HV and EHV Substation projects, ensuring design, budgets, forecasts, margins and KPIs are managed and reported.
• Develop strategies to engage project stakeholders at all levels, maintain relationships, and report progress.
• Provide guidance with pursuit/initiation activities including Go/No-Go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation strategies, pricing reviews.
• Lead contract negotiations and client presentations as needed.
• Direct and oversee technical reviews, assign qualified staff, and ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Provide inputs to multi-disciplinary teams and deliver high-level strategic advice to clients.
• Manage staff performance and provide leadership to project teams.
• Maintain documentation including Risk, PMP, QP, PSP, and Communications Plan.
• Lead project kick-off meetings and coordinate resource and subcontracting needs with area/technical managers.
• Ensure regular client communications with monthly status, safety incidents, and scope/budget updates.
