Job summary

Medasource is seeking a Data Engineer to join a mission-driven healthcare analytics team supporting a nonprofit health insurer. You will design data models and pipelines in Azure Databricks, powering dashboards and provider performance views, with a focus on risk adjustment, quality metrics, and medical expense management.

This fully remote contract (up to 12 months) requires expert SQL, PySpark, and Delta Lake architecture, and collaboration with BI developers and analytics leaders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a Data Engineer or similar with large, complex datasets.
• 3+ years hands-on with Azure Databricks incl. production PySpark & Spark SQL.
• Expertise with Delta Lake and bronze/silver/gold medallion architecture.
• Strong SQL and dimensional data modeling for BI consumption.
• Experience with Databricks Workflows and/or Azure Data Factory.
• Healthcare payer data experience incl. claims, encounters, MLR, cost-of-care, Stars/HEDIS, risk adjustment.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data models and pipelines in Azure Databricks for healthcare analytics.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes prioritizing data quality and lineage.
• Build and optimize Delta Lake medallion architecture for scalable BI data.
• Collaborate with BI developers and analytics leaders to deliver JOC dashboards and provider views.
• Integrate payer data including claims, encounters, MLR, cost-of-care and quality metrics.
• Architect analytic models and hierarchies for executive and provider reporting.
• Orchestrate data workflows with Databricks Workflows and/or Azure Data Factory.
