Job summary

State of Washington’s Hatcheries Division is seeking a Hatchery Operations Manager for Region 4 Central in Sultan. You will provide strategic leadership for five hatchery facilities and supervise a team dedicated to advancing fish conservation and hatchery operations across North Puget Sound.

You will oversee production programs, support reform initiatives, and ensure safe, compliant operations while collaborating with Tribes and partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Five years of senior-level experience in resident fish culture, salmonid culture, and fish health management.
• Two years supervising hatchery staff.
• Two years managing and negotiating hatchery budgets.
• Maintaining relationships with Federal, Tribal and other agencies; knowledge of relevant hatchery regulations; proficiency with Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for five hatchery facilities and supervise a team focused on fish conservation and hatchery operations.
• Oversee fish production programs and support hatchery reform initiatives to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Develop and document long-term plans to meet agency performance measures and adapt to emerging needs.
• Communicate with Tribes, partner agencies, volunteers, and Fish Program teams about goals and activities.
