Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Laboratory seek a talented student graphic designer to join our communications team and help visually tell stories of research, education, and outreach that protect Ohio's water resources.

You'll develop graphics for digital and print platforms, collaborate with researchers and educators, and contribute to outreach materials while building a diverse portfolio and mastering branding, accessibility, and visual storytelling.

Qualifications

• Design marketing and recruitment materials for Stone Lab courses and programs.
• Update and redesign publications with Ohio State brand standards and ADA accessibility.
• Develop graphics and visual storytelling for social media, websites, digital outreach.

Responsibilities

• Designing marketing and recruitment materials, including email graphics, brochures, flyers, and promotional pieces for Stone Lab courses and programs.
• Creating educational displays and exhibit materials on environmental topics such as fisheries, invasive species, water quality, wetlands, and Great Lakes ecosystems.
• Updating and redesigning existing publications using Ohio State brand standards and accessibility (ADA) best practices.
• Developing graphics and visual storytelling elements for social media, websites, digital communications, and outreach campaigns.
• Creating animations and motion graphics that translate scientific research and environmental topics into engaging visual content for social media, web stories, and digital outreach.
• Collaborating with the communications team to transform complex research findings into compelling visuals and multimedia content.
• Assisting with the layout and design of fact sheets, posters, presentations, and other outreach materials.
• Create ebook of several publications.
