Job summary

Miami Waterkeeper is seeking a Government Affairs Specialist to advance clean water, habitat protection, and climate resiliency at city, county, state, and federal levels in greater Miami.

This full-time role covers legislative monitoring, policy analysis, drafting testimony, and coalition-building with agencies, coalitions, and community groups. Some travel is required; remote work is allowed two days per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or related field.
• 3–5+ years in government, public policy, or lobbying.
• Knowledge of Environmental Policy preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the organization's mission.
• Align government relations activities with MWK's strategic goals.
• Prepare background research, summaries, and analyses for advocacy positions.
• Develop strategies and draft materials for campaigns and regulatory comments.
• Build relationships with government offices, coalitions, and partners.
