Job summary

CAI is seeking a GIS Software Developer Intern for a fully remote, full-time internship within the United States. The program runs from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027, requiring 40 hours per week with core hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ET. You will learn by contributing to real projects, fixing software issues, and building your technical skill set. The role emphasizes software development across GIS-related tools, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and exposure to SDLC practices

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering, Geography/GIS, or related field.
Current Junior with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with various programming languages.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming.
Knowledge of SDLC and software development best practices.
Experience with relational databases and MS Office.
Ability to document technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and debug general software applications of low to moderate complexity.
Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
Design software or customize for client use to improve efficiency.
Code and modify applications from layout to function.
Develop new features and maintain existing applications.
Write testable, efficient code using best practices.
Assist in documentation and testing procedures.
Collaborate with team to determine design specifications.
