Job summary

Helios Software Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing finance team. You’ll handle day-to-day accounting for our German entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and VAT compliance, in a fully remote setup open to Europe.

The role reports to the Director of Finance and involves close collaboration with the finance team on month-end close, intercompany accounting, and statutory filings under HGB.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of accounting experience with hands-on German accounting (HGB) and tax knowledge.
• Experience in the software/SaaS industry.
• Multi-currency or multi-entity experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting.
• Professional qualification in accounting or bookkeeping is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close for our German entities, including journal entries and accounting analysis.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support their review.
• Follow up with vendors on missing invoices and prepare cost accruals for the P&L review.
• Process payments and bank transfers, and ensure proper approvals.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Prepare German VAT filings and support payroll tax filings with our payroll provider and tax advisor.
• Support annual financial statements under HGB, statutory audits and tax filings.
• Help implement and maintain key controls and clean up messy ledgers and processes.
• Prepare financial KPIs and reporting for the finance team, and check accuracy.
