Figma is growing its applied science team to advance AI technologies that power its design and collaboration tools. This full-time role can be held from a US hub or remotely within the United States, and involves close collaboration with product and infrastructure engineers to deliver AI-powered features.

You will lead fundamental and applied research in generative AI, developing models using SFT, RL, prompt improvements and synthetic data, while translating user feedback into AI requirements.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in building generative AI features and models.
• Strong background in supervised finetuning (SFT) and RL methods.
• Experience with large language models and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Drive fundamental and applied AI research to improve Figma products.
• Develop cutting-edge generative AI models (SFT, RL, synthetic data).
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure engineers to ship AI-powered features.
• Translate user feedback into AI system requirements for delivery.
• Build evaluation systems to measure AI feature quality.
