Job summary

August Schell is seeking a GCP Cloud Engineer/Architect to design and implement secure, scalable Google Cloud environments for federal modernization initiatives. You will focus on professional services delivery, cloud architecture, and hands-on engineering with cross-functional teams including data and security.

The role emphasizes migration to cloud-native architectures, Terraform IaC, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Kubernetes/GKE deployment and operations experience.
• Cloud networking expertise (VPC, subnets, routing, firewall rules, load balancing).
• Experience with IAM, service accounts, and organization policies.
• Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Familiarity with Linux, containers, YAML, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain GCP infrastructure supporting modernization initiatives.
• Architect and deploy Kubernetes (GKE) clusters and supporting services.
• Lead migrations from on-premises environments to cloud-native architectures.
• Design and implement cloud networking solutions including VPCs, routing, firewalls, and VPN/interconnects.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Kubernetes-native tooling.
• Implement CI/CD and GitOps workflows using GitHub or GitLab with ArgoCD/Argo Workflows.
• Support data and application platforms including BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Run, Firestore, and Pub/Sub.
• Provide architecture guidance, documentation, and best-practice recommendations.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with federal and enterprise standards.
