Job summary

Column Five is a B2B marketing agency specializing in brand and content marketing for SaaS companies. We’re hiring a freelance copy editor to work on project-based copy, typically 5-40 hours per project, collaborating with our internal team and occasionally client teams.

The role requires 4+ years of copy editing in B2B tech/SaaS, strong style guidance, and excellent fact-checking and communication skills. You will work remotely within USA time zones and engage with collaborative critique

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional copy editing experience in B2B tech, SaaS, or developer-focused content with some writing experience.
• Proficiency in enforcing brand style guides for consistency across all content.
• Portfolio demonstrating ability to edit and refine complex technical content into clear, compelling copy.
• Strong research abilities and thorough fact-checking skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot minute errors and inconsistencies.

Responsibilities

• Copy edit short- and long-form content for client website, collateral, and marketing campaigns.
• Polish and refine existing copy to translate complex tech concepts into compelling, motivating content.
• Work with the creative team through regular copy/design critiques and feedback sessions.
• Edit and repurpose messaging for corporate marketing deliverables, ensuring brand guideline compliance.
• Edit content for executive, legal, and marketing audiences with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and credibility.
• Preserve technical nuance while improving readability and logical flow for target audiences.
• Manage editing projects while maintaining precision and attention to detail in fast-moving environments with busy team members.
• Stay organized and track comments/feedback across stakeholders.
• Serve as the point of contact for copy deliverables.
• Attend meetings for project kick-offs, feedback gathering, and style guide updates.
• Communicate project updates and collaborate via Slack and PM or CRM tools.
