Job summary

SouthState Bank is seeking a FIU Fraud Data Analyst to combine data analytics, investigative judgment, and fraud expertise to identify and mitigate financial crime risks across the Bank. This role emphasizes rigorous data analysis, dashboard development, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will analyze large datasets, support risk-based decisions, and work with Fraud Operations, Digital Banking, IT, Compliance, and leadership to strengthen controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in fraud, financial crimes, BSA/AML, or related area.
• Experience conducting fraud investigations and identifying patterns.
• Minimum 2 years querying and reconciling large datasets using SQL-based databases or Snowflake.
• Experience creating management reports, dashboards, or data-supported recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate fraud detection rules, monitoring logic, alert performance, false positives, and data quality issues; recommend enhancements.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, recurring reports, trend analyses, and ad hoc data views to identify patterns and losses.
• Identify emerging fraud trends, attack patterns, mule activity, account takeover indicators, and other financial crime risks.
• Query, extract, validate, and analyze large datasets using SQL-based databases, Snowflake, Excel, and other approved tools.
• Analyze fraud alerts, account activity, customer behavior, and transaction patterns for unusual activity.
• Research and analyze high-risk transactions across payment channels (digital banking, Zelle, Bill Pay, wires, ACH, checks).
