Qualifications

• Current Florida Standard Plans Examiner license required (F.S. 468, Part XII).
• Strong expertise in plan review and knowledge of the Florida Building Code, life safety, and fire protection for residential and commercial construction.
• Background in building inspections or code enforcement in a regulatory or governmental context.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain code requirements clearly to non-experts.
• Comfort working in a remote, technology-forward environment with digital plan review tools.
• Prior experience with municipal permitting processes or working with local governments is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review building plans for compliance with the Florida Building Code and local ordinances.
• Evaluate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans for code compliance.
• Identify deficiencies and provide clear feedback to applicants and partner jurisdictions.
• Document decisions and interpretations for consistency; contribute to training materials and best practices.
• Support code-related inquiries from local government users and help improve review tools and workflows.
