Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an Infrastructure Lead for the Exchange team within Institutional. You will own the network infrastructure, deployment, and tooling behind a unified trading platform spanning cloud and on‑prem environments.

You'll design routing and security architectures, drive observability, and lead 24/7 production maintenance. Mentorship and cross-functional collaboration with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading teams are core to this role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in network/infrastructure/SRE engineering with ownership of production systems in latency-sensitive settings.
• Deep multicast, BGP/OSPF, VRFs, high-availability data-center networking experience.
• Proven live incident leadership for production trading systems and risk management during changes.
• Experience with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, telemetry, and Python/Ansible automation.
• Familiarity with exchange/latency-sensitive concepts; crypto experience is a plus, not required.
• Responsible use of AI with human oversight to improve workflows and output quality.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure for institutional trading across cloud and on-prem.
• Design and maintain routing, traffic segmentation, and market-data architectures with BGP/OSPF/VRFs and HA platforms.
• Deploy and operate firewalls, IPsec and SSL VPNs, and third-party connections.
• Drive observability and automation using SNMP, gRPC telemetry, latency analysis, and Python/Ansible tooling.
• Lead safe production changes, incident response, failover testing, and 24/7 on-call rotations.
• Mentor engineers and partner with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading teams to boost reliability and velocity.
