Canals, a remote-first startup, is hiring an Early Career Engineer to join our backend team. You’ll work with senior engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable systems powering our logistics platform.

You'll contribute to feature development, bug fixes, reviews, testing, and documentation while learning modern engineering practices and gaining ownership over time. This role offers exposure to real customers and measurable business impact as we accelerate growth.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience (internships count).
• Fundamentals in at least one backend language (Go/Python/Node).
• Curiosity to understand complex systems and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems powering the platform.
• Contribute to feature development, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation for quality.
• Collaborate with product and design to move ideas to production.
• Learn new tools and grow toward greater ownership over time.
