Job summary

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a part‑time Field Enumerator to support data collection from rural communities in Utah. This role is primarily remote with field travel; iPad provided and mileage reimbursed.

Responsibilities include interviewing farmers and businesses, recording responses and hours on an iPad, and maintaining accurate records. Flexible hours and occasional weekend work; background check required and residency in local area.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for interviews; mileage reimbursed.
• A phone; a small stipend is provided for phone work.
• Self-motivation and responsibility.
• Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
• Comfort speaking with people by phone and in person.
• Basic familiarity with iPads, data entry, and email.
• Good time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Interest in agriculture, food systems, sustainability, or rural communities.
• Access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses by phone or in person.
• Conducting crop counts in designated fields (not applicable to all positions).
• Recording survey responses, mileage, expenses, and hours worked using an iPad.
• Maintaining clear, complete, and timely records.
• Representing NASDA professionally and positively in all interactions.
