Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in the Western North America region is seeking a Field Application Scientist (FAS) for a remote, field-based role. You will train customers, provide technical and application support, and assist with pre-sales activities for HID products across Western North America.

The role requires a background in forensic science or related fields, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 70% as needed. Eligible locations include CA, AZ, WA, OR, NV.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forensic science, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree, in forensic DNA workflows or related role.
  • Demonstrated experience with forensic DNA instrumentation, chemistries, and analysis software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining complex scientific concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer training on HID products, applications, and workflows on-site and remotely.
  • Provide technical and application support, troubleshooting workflows and product performance.
  • Support pre-sales activities with technical consultation, demonstrations, and workflow discussions.
  • Provide post-sales support to help customers implement and optimize HID technologies.
  • Partner with Sales to provide scientific and technical expertise throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer needs and improve experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HID products, workflows, and forensic science developments.
  • Document customer activities and feedback for internal teams.
