Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Energy & Environment Cabinet, Dept for Environmental Protection, seeks an Environmental Scientist III in Frankfort to oversee investigations, assessments, and cleanup of complex contaminated sites.

Responsibilities include reviewing environmental reports, brownfield redevelopment applications, inspections, site characterizations, and serving as technical advisor to the public and agencies; telecommuting may be authorized.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area.

Responsibilities

• Review characterization, remediation, closure, and other environmental reports for releases of hazardous substances and other contaminants.
• Review Brownfield Redevelopment Applications, environmental assessments, and management plans.
• Carry out inspections, site investigations, and environmental assessments involving sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water.
• Serve as technical advisor to the public and other governmental agencies.
