Job summary

EDF Health invites a marketing/communications intern to help draft materials for Instagram, X, and the monthly newsletter, while supporting media outreach and audience research. You will translate technical environmental health issues into engaging stories for public audiences and create digital content including blog posts and campaign messaging.

The role involves auditing Sprout Social analytics, updating media lists, and monitoring media coverage.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in marketing, communications, journalism, environmental science, international affairs, development, or related fields.
• Demonstrated interest or working knowledge of public policy, public health, and advocacy, especially air quality, chemicals, or climate change policy.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; translate complex issues into engaging blog, newsletter, and social media content.
• Knowledge of social media and creative campaigns; experience with Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter/X; reels/short-form video is a plus.
• Preferred Wordpress website management experience.
• Well-organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.
• Experience with Canva and basic video/photo editing; eager to learn more.

Responsibilities

• Draft marketing and communications materials for EDF Health across Instagram, Twitter/X, and the monthly newsletter.
• Assist with media outreach tasks and audience research to reach relevant publics.
• Translate environmental health and policy topics into clear, compelling content.
• Create digital communications products like social content, newsletter copy, blog posts, and campaign messaging.
• Audit Sprout Social analytics and audience profiles to inform best practices.
• Update media lists to reflect current media landscape.
• Monitor media outlets for reporting, coverage, and opportunities.
• Assist with basic photo editing, video review, and collateral design.
• Support EDF's culture and inclusion goals through teamwork and initiative.
