Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking an Engineer Lead for a remote role guiding multiple engineering teams delivering government-focused software solutions. The position emphasizes leadership, technical direction, and collaboration with federal stakeholders.

You will mentor engineers, shape development processes, and participate in client-facing communications while advancing technical strategies and delivery excellence.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent
• 2+ years of mentoring and coaching experience; ability to lead delivery
• Must meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background check
• Extensive experience with software development, customer interactions, and mentorship
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical decisions for non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Develops an understanding of program scope, schedule and cost management with leadership support
• Provides coaching and development to engineering team members and defines growth plans
• Supports team engineers in technical direction and career management
• Leads team processes and promotes best practices to fill gaps
• Partners with stakeholders to represent the engineering practice and communicate tradeoffs
• Develops effective written communication and presentation skills to describe systems and decisions
• May participate in bid-writing, tech demos and client-facing communications
• Presents ongoing engineering work, goals, and risks
• Develops influential skills to translate challenges and roadmaps
• Participates in interviews and assists in hiring and performance reviews
