Training & Evaluation

All consultants begin with an intense 6-week training and evaluation period designed to ensure mastery of our systems, standards, and advising philosophy:

• Extensive review of internal documents, frameworks, guides, and recordings
• Weekly Zoom training sessions
• Participation in our team Slack environment
• Real case analysis and strategic advising exercises

Time commitment is approximately 20 hours per week, almost entirely asynchronous.

Consultants receive a stipend of $2,000 for successful completion of the training phase.

This is not simple onboarding—it is earned entry into a high-trust, high-performance team.

Positions & Pay

— Half Time Consultant

• Up to 8 students
• $5,000 year-end bonus

— Full Time Consultant

• Up to 16 students
• $5,000 year-end bonus

Our ideal candidate would be open to eventually transitioning from a half to full-time role, provided it’s an excellent mutual fit and there is compelling evidence of initial success with student cases. However, we will still strongly consider candidates who might be interested in a half-time only position.

Role & Responsibilities

Consultants will be responsible for working closely with students, most often over multiple years, assigning them tasks for building their candidacy on a twice-weekly basis and communicating with them whenever needed throughout the process. While most work is conducted asynchronously, student meetings typically occur on a monthly basis in the pre-application phase and weekly during the application phase. The consultant’s role will include the following:

• helping students identify unique passions, interests, and strengths that will collectively form their admissions “story” or "hook" and help to differentiate them from other competitive applicants
• overseeing and project managing the resume-building process, centered on each student’s unique admissions “hook,” once identified. Activities are wide-ranging and might include clubs, leadership, summer programs, research, internships, independent projects, self-created organizations, publications, college/online coursework, awards and competitions, or other relevant pursuits
• strategizing around and helping oversee students’ course selections, academic grades, and standardized testing
• producing school lists and visit plans that are maximally calibrated to the best and best-fit colleges to which students can gain admission based on their profiles
• supporting strategic selection of early decision/early action plans at students’ top-choice schools
• helping students present and supply unique details about their classroom and school impact to teachers and counselors for letters of recommendation
• optimizing selection of intended majors on a school-by-school basis to give them the greatest chance of admission
• providing beginning-to-end essay development and execution on all application components
• engaging with our team—via Slack messages, briefings on student cases, checklists, updates, and in weekly team meetings
