Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is hiring Elevator Inspectors to help maintain safety codes across the state. The role involves inspecting elevators, escalators, ski-lifts, and other lifting devices, reporting findings, and ensuring compliance.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain an Unlimited Elevator Journeyperson license from the CT Department of Consumer Protection.
• Knowledge of state laws, regulations, and building/elevator codes.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use computer software.

Responsibilities

• Inspect elevators, escalators, ski-lifts, and other lifting devices for safety and code compliance.
• Witness load tests and hydraulic tests on elevators.
• Investigate accidents and complaints involving lifting devices.
• Review construction plans and new installations for code compliance.
• Prepare reports and testify at hearings or in court as needed.
