Job summary

Kimmel & Associates is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its team. This role develops detailed electrical cost estimates from concept through final design to support budgeting and procurement strategy.

Unlike hard-bid work, the focus is on accurate projections to guide planning. Onboarding occurs at Parkton, Maryland, with remote daily work and periodic in-person meetings for the team.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of electrical estimating experience in M/E/P, infra, or industrial construction.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, drawings, specs, and estimating methods.
• Experience estimating across multiple design development phases.
• Proficient in Excel; training on proprietary platform provided.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated; able to work independently in a remote setting.
• Located within commuting distance of Parkton, MD, or willing to relocate; occasional travel.

• Prepare accurate electrical construction cost estimates from conceptual design through final documents.

Our client is a well-established engineering and consulting firm with decades of experience supporting complex infrastructure projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and across the United States. The firm specializes in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (M/E/P) estimating services for public and private sector clients, with expertise spanning water and wastewater treatment facilities, electric bus depots, transportation infrastructure, and other mission-critical projects. Known for its technical excellence and collaborative culture, the organization delivers reliable cost planning that supports informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

About the Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its growing team. This role prepares detailed construction cost estimates at various stages of design development to support owner budgeting, capital planning, and procurement strategy.

Unlike traditional contractor estimating positions, this is not a hard-bid role. The focus is on developing accurate, comprehensive cost projections that help clients make informed decisions throughout planning and design.

The position is remote day to day, but it is not location-agnostic. Onboarding and training happen at the company's office in Parkton, Maryland, and the team meets in person periodically. Candidates should live within reasonable driving distance of Parkton (greater Baltimore, York/Harrisburg, northern Maryland, southern Pennsylvania) or be open to relocating there.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate electrical construction cost estimates from conceptual design through final construction documents.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation to develop detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing.

• Experience preparing estimates across multiple phases of design development.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software. Training is provided on the firm's proprietary platform.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with a track record of working independently in a remote setting.
• Located within commuting distance of Parkton, Maryland, or willing to relocate. Occasional travel for training, team meetings, and project site visits.
