Fastly, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Linux Edge Kernel to own end-to-end kernel projects on a global edge network. You will drive drivers, IRQ affinity, and NIC configurations on high-core hosts, while improving XDP/eBPF based datapath performance.

The role requires deep Linux kernel expertise, strong debugging skills, and experience contributing to upstream kernel projects. Remote/hybrid US work locations supported, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related engineering experience, incl. production C
• Experience in production Linux kernel development
• Strong understanding of Linux network stack and XDP/eBPF

Responsabilités

• Set technical direction for kernel projects and own them end to end
• Bring up new servers, CPUs and NICs from first boot to fleet rollout
• Improve datapath and transport performance with XDP and eBPF
• Debug cross-layer issues with application teams
• Develop kernel changes and upstream them safely
• Own kernel health in production and triage crashes
