The ideal candidate has 2+ years of ED facility-fee coding experience, and an active AAPC or AHIMA certification. Epic experience is preferred, and the role requires the ability to work independently in a remote

Qualifications

• 2+ years facility-fee outpatient coding experience in Emergency Department services; Injection and Infusion experience required.
• Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA is required.
• Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Review ED records to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Assign ED E/M levels per guidelines and facility charging methodologies.
• Analyze documentation from nursing, physicians, and labs to ensure complete code assignment and charge capture.
• Apply CMS, NCCI edits, payer requirements and official coding guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and communicate coding clarification needs.
• Maintain compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and other payer policies.
• Participate in coding quality reviews and process improvements.
• Stay current with coding updates and reimbursement changes.
• Collaborate with coding leadership and client representatives to resolve issues.
