Job summary

Advantech GS Enterprises seeks a Data Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data solutions for the DISA NEXUS program at Fort Meade. You will develop production-grade data pipelines in Azure and/or AWS, using PySpark, Spark SQL, Python, and modern data engineering best practices.

The role focuses on multi-cloud integration, secure data architecture, and advanced analytics within DoD environments.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Data Science/Engineering/Info Systems or related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing and operating scalable data pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics and/or Databricks.
• Strong PySpark and Spark SQL experience for large-scale transformations.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL for data querying and automation.
• Experience ingesting structured and unstructured data from databases, flat files, REST APIs, and external systems.
• Experience with CDC and rerunnable pipelines, data quality controls, and schema governance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, AWS Glue, and related technologies.
• Build and optimize large-scale data transformations with PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Develop data ingestion frameworks for structured and unstructured data sources.
• Implement full and incremental load strategies including CDC and late-arriving data handling.
• Design and maintain data lakes, warehouses, and analytics-ready datasets for enterprise reporting.
• Enforce data quality, schema governance, RBAC, and credential management.
• Monitor pipelines for latency, failures, logging, and reliability.
• Support CI/CD for automated deployments and environment promotions.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and cloud engineering to maintain RMF, STIG, FedRAMP, and DoD security standards.
• Utilize Oracle databases and cloud-native tools for data migration and modernization.
