Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a DevSecOps architect to drive security architecture across software, cloud, and ground segment deployments. You will collaborate with the CTO Office to ensure compliance with industry standards while guiding engineers in secure design and implementation.

The role requires deep experience in security frameworks, Kubernetes, and on-prem deployments, with a track record leading security-focused initiatives and earning a US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of related work experience, including 5+ years leading DevSecOps projects.
• Experience architecting complex software systems for cybersecurity compliance.
• Familiarity with NIST 800-171, 800-53, 800-207, FIPS 140-2, FedRAMP, and ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
• Experience with Kubernetes and on-prem deployments of software systems.
• Experience with software life cycle tools (JIRA, Git) and engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication skills across diverse stakeholders including Engineering, Sales, Customers, and Product Management.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Align security and CTO offices by developing requirements and solving for security compliance of deployments.
• Create architectural blueprints for software, network, and infrastructure security across cloud and on-prem.
• Develop a cybersecurity roadmap and implement frameworks for cloud and on-prem systems.
• Assess vulnerabilities and risks through security reviews and architecture assessments.
• Integrate automated security controls in IaC templates using Terraform and Helm.
• Establish enterprise security standards and access guidelines based on compliance rules.
• Communicate security requirements to stakeholders and translate into engineering specs.
• Coordinate cross-team execution to address vulnerabilities and risks, tracking progress and milestones.
• Document and maintain security architectures and interfaces for systems.
• Lead risk management and project escalations, collaborating with managers and technical groups to solve complex problems.
• Develop data models to evaluate tradeoffs and support decision-making.
