Job summary

Bright Hope is seeking a Mid-Level Development Officer to join the Relationship Management team in the Chicagoland area. You will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivate gifts, and coordinate solicitations, stewardship, and donor engagements.

This role partners with the Director of Relationship Management to plan events, donor trips abroad, and opportunities that transform donors' views on poverty, while advancing Bright Hope's mission.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of development experience, preferred.
• Grant research and writing experience preferred.
• Connections to Christian philanthropic networks strongly preferred.
• Undergraduate degree preferred.
• Experience with Salesforce or other donor CRM preferred.
• Strong competency with Microsoft Office (e.g.,Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to travel domestically approximately 5 days per year and internationally 2-3 times per year.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must care deeply for uplifting those suffering from extreme poverty using a Christian framework.
• Demonstrable ability to ignite passion for Bright Hope’s mission and vision.
• Demonstrable ability to effectively cold call prospective benefactors.
• Demonstrable ability to engage and inspire high-net-worth individuals to give generously.

Responsibilities

• Develop donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Conduct in-person and virtual donor visits, locally and domestically.
• Prepare personalized gift proposals and gift solicitations.
• Identify and qualify major gift prospects from existing and outside donor base.
• Support foundation and grant opportunities.
• Assist with strategy, planning, and execution of donor events.
• Support planning of Hope Builders donor society.
• Track activities in Salesforce.
• Lead 2-3 international donor trips annually.
