Capital Technology Group in Washington, DC is seeking a Quality Engineer to join a data engineering team supporting a program that handles financial and regulatory data. This role develops QA strategies, testing methodologies, and automation to keep data accurate, complete, and reliable across pipelines and analytics platforms.

You will collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into data quality controls, build automated checks with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IS, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of software QA/testing/quality engineering experience.
• Strong Python programming and automated test framework experience (Pytest).
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT testing, and SQL.
• Experience with Spark/PySpark and Airflow.
• Experience with AWS data services.

Responsibilities

• Develop data quality strategies and testing standards for pipelines.
• Design and execute automated and manual tests for data quality.
• Build quality checks and tests using Python, Spark, SQL, and Airflow.
• Validate transformations across Spark, AWS S3, and related services.
• Create reusable test frameworks and CI/CD testing utilities.
• Define quality thresholds and acceptance criteria for data.
• Investigate data anomalies with data engineers for root cause.
• Review code and ensure tests cover unit/integration/data quality.
