Archer, in collaboration with athenahealth, is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to head a team responsible for ETL pipelines that move healthcare data into athenahealth systems with accuracy and reliability.

This remote-US role partners with Sales, Product, Implementation, Operations, and Engineering to shape data strategy, improve delivery, and ensure high-quality execution across migrations and exports. Report to the Director, Data Imports & Migrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of data engineering, ETL, or data migration experience.
• 2+ years leading engineers or managing technical projects.
• Experience with ETL, SQL, and Python.
• Familiarity with HL7 and FHIR interoperability standards.
• Experience with healthcare data or implementation-focused teams preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment.

Responsabilités

• Lead and develop a team of data engineers responsible for ETL workloads that move data from source systems into athenahealth environments.
• Provide technical direction for Python-based tools, utilities, and automation used to support import, migration, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to define source-to-target mappings, business rules, migration requirements, and technical approach.
• Review inbound and outbound data flows to identify gaps, defects, transformation issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee interoperability workflows using HL7 and FHIR standards and ensure data movement approaches align with technical and business requirements.
• Establish and maintain technical documentation for processes, dependencies, standards, validation steps, and operational procedures.
