GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer to design and build enriched datasets using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks, sourcing data from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) and other internal and external systems. The datasets you build will feed directly into Power BI semantic models used by stakeholders across the organization.

This role works closely with clients to gather requirements, track work in JIRA, and deliver high-quality, well-documented data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or commensurate experience.
• Hands-on data pipeline experience in Databricks (PySpark or SQL).
• Strong SQL with complex joins and performance tuning.
• Experience with Power BI semantic models.
• Familiarity with GitHub for version control and JIRA for work tracking.
• Excellent communication with clients/stakeholders.
• Understanding of medallion data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain medallion datasets (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks.
• Develop and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines.
• Write optimized SQL to transform healthcare data.
• Prepare gold-layer data for Power BI models.
• Log work in JIRA and manage code in GitHub.
