Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to support Federal, Intelligence, and Defense customers. You will manage vulnerability scanning, assess risks, implement remediation, and apply security patches across Windows and Linux servers, helping to build and maintain Zero Trust architecture.

The role requires hands-on experience with vulnerability tools, patch management, and strong collaboration with infrastructure and DevOps teams to meet security requirements and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Active SECRET clearance.
  • Ability to resolve complex IT challenges.
  • Proven track record of excellence in IT security, vulnerability management, or system administration.
  • Hands‑on experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience with patch management and tools/solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server administration.
  • Knowledge of CVSS scoring, CVE tracking, and vulnerability prioritization.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, firewalls, and enterprise security practices.
  • Strong problems solving skills.
  • Excellent communications and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular vulnerability scans across enterprise servers, applications, and infrastructure using standard tools.
  • Analyze scan results, assess risk severity, validate findings, and prioritize remediation activities with owners and engineers.
  • Develop, maintain, and operate a vulnerability management program, including tracking, reporting, and remediation metrics.
  • Apply and validate security patches, OS updates, and software upgrades on enterprise servers (Windows and Linux).
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and DevOps teams to ensure timely remediation with minimal disruption.
  • Support compliance with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST 800-te, CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIG)
  • Develop and maintain patch baselines, golden images, and configuration standards to reduce vulnerability recurrence.
  • Document vulnerability management process, create runbooks, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Participate in security audits, assessments, and reporting activities.
