Job summary

LAPORTE L.E.I. in Memphis, TN is seeking an Intermediate Controls Engineer for full-time work on automation projects in pharma and food & beverage. You will design, program, and support control systems, lead teams, and assist with commissioning and site installations.

The role emphasizes mentorship, lifecycle support, and adherence to UL508A/NEC standards, with 20-40% travel. A strong background in Rockwell tools and AutoCAD is required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in automation project tasks including design, client coordination, and bid package preparation.
• Proficient in control panel design, network design, instrument selection, and control system programming.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
• Experience with AutoCAD for control panel design and electrical construction packages.
• Ability to survey existing control installations and prepare as-built conditions.
• Experience leading and mentoring project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the design of automation projects, developing specifications for control panels, networks, and software (Rockwell PLC/PACs and FactoryTalk View ME/SE).
• Translate applications into detailed construction packages for control panel designs and electrical scopes.
• Mentor and supervise project team members to enhance collaboration and execution.
• Provide lifecycle support including design, testing, and commissioning.
• Perform site surveys and support during installation for control system deployment.
• Ensure compliance with UL508A, NEC and related standards.
• Engage in diverse projects to develop engineering and project management skills.
• Travel 20-40% depending on project needs and site visits.
