Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks an E&S Complex Claims Specialist to handle the most intricate claims. This fully remote role emphasizes coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and disposition of assignments while adhering to company policies and authority levels.

The ideal candidate will manage litigation, budget considerations, and collaboration with stakeholders. Travel up to 20% may be required, and compliance with regulatory standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in complex coverage analysis and large loss evaluations.
• E&S claims experience preferred but not required.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• State-issued driver0 license and multi-state licensing preferred.
• New York Labor Law experience required.
• Ability to write coverage letters.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve coverage issues for all lines of business and all liability claim types.
• Investigate claims by phone, written correspondence, and personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses, and others.
• Effectively manage vendors and expenses.
• Analyze information to assess extent of loss and assign medical or other experts as needed.
• Negotiate and resolve claims within delegated authority ($100k–$400k).
• Provide required reports to claims, underwriting, reinsurers, and actuarial on significant exposure cases.
• Support trials, mediations, and travel as needed (up to 20%).
• Ensure referrals to reinsurers are timely and proper.
