Job summary

Canal & River Trust is seeking a Communications & Campaigns Manager to lead media relations and integrated campaigns. The role is a 12-month, full-time position with a home-based pattern and travel to the South East hub spaces.

You will shape news stories, manage media inquiries, and support teams to raise the charity's profile and income. The role requires a degree or equivalent, strong copywriting, and ability to work under pressure within a small team.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
• Experience working with journalists and media outlets.
• Ability to develop and shape compelling stories for different audiences.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, shape and place news stories in target media to support goals.
• Be first point of contact for media enquiries, including a 24-hour rota.
• Support colleagues in waterways and specialist teams to raise income and profile.
• Deliver campaigns integrating media relations, digital, and traditional marketing and fundraising.
• Protect the Trust's reputation and provide guidance for spokespeople.
