Job summary

Washington Hospital is seeking a Coding Manager, Educator, and Reviewer to lead coding operations with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. The role includes oversight of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG logic, and CPT assignments, along with education and mentoring of coders to strengthen documentation integrity and payer compliance.

Responsibilities include coding quality reviews, educator roles, and collaboration with CDI to improve documentation and revenue integrity.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field or equivalent experience.
• Licensure: CCS, CPC, RHIT, RHIA or equivalent credential.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG logic, coding guidelines.
• Experience in coding quality review, DRG validation, and coder education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the coding department, including workload distribution and performance management.
• Develop and implement coding policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with clinical, billing, and compliance teams to resolve coding issues.
• Monitor coding quality and timeliness, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Design and deliver training programs for coders, providers, and clinical staff.
