Remote - Clinical Research Budget Analyst
A highly reputable clinical research organization is currently hiring a Clinical Research Budget Analyst to work remotely in the United States.
Description:
- Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Trials Research Revenue Cycle, the Financial Analyst supports the needs of Clinical Trials Research Revenue Cycle by performing various financial or budget analyses, preparing standard and/or ad hoc reports, and providing other support for departmental processes such as reviewing clinical trials budgets, negotiating clinical trials budgets with external entities, management and tracking of chargeback methodologies, and revenue/expense variance analyses.
- This detail-oriented individual will serve as a liaison between the Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Financial Analysts, Investigator/or Sponsor, the Clinical Research team and Director of Clinical Trials Research Revenue Cycle.
- Reviews EPIC and the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) for research patients/trials that are tracked through the CTMS; audits studies to confirm charges and distributions are made correctly.
- This position requires a working knowledge and understanding of complex budgets and coordination of information between the informed consent, coverage analysis, internal and external budget reports and research contracts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Preparation of management reports as assigned. These include daily revenue reports, monthly revenue/expense variances, budget summaries, long-term plan reports, capital planning/monitoring reports, clinical trials fund accounting, invoice accounting, etc.
- Perform month end invoicing including posting of protocol and subject related events.
- Coordinate flow of financial data including collection, maintenance and updating of data to support the development, analyses and monitoring of various departmental processes or functions. Perform required financial analyses utilizing this data as assigned.
- Support departmental leadership in the process of developing the annual operating/capital budget, the long-term financial plan, the periodic reforecast, etc.
- Create, manage, and track chargeback methodologies for functions related to clinical trials and interactions with other entities throughout the institution.
- Create, manage, and oversee budgeting standards for all clinical trials.
- Interact with Research Affairs staff to assist in clinical trials creation and negotiation. Give updates and reports to physicians, leadership, committees, and staff as appropriate.
- Compares and corrects data regarding transactions.
- Performs other job duties as assigned to include onboarding new staff members.
Required Job Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree in business (accounting or finance)
- One plus year of experience in financial analysis or financial planning or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience where the required knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with MS Excel tables, formatting and basic calculations.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and attention to detail.
- Able to work in a team environment and maintain a positive outlook.
- Able to learn and apply technical knowledge in the areas of clinical research, medical coding and revenue cycle in a consultative manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills due to direct interaction with senior management.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills. High degree of accuracy for analyses and processes.

- Familiar with clinical trials and documentation
- Ability to conduct financial analysis and produce financial statements and reports.

- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures needed to perform job duties.
- Proficient in MS Office Products with advanced knowledge of Excel and Access; ability to work with and be proficient in stand-alone system applications
- Familiarity with different types of clinical research and the drug development process.
- Understanding of FDA regulations related to clinical trials involving Investigational New Drugs (INDs) and/or Investigational Device Exemptions (IDEs).
- Previous experience in Research Billing, Budgeting/ budgeting analysis for Research Clinical Trials, Coverage Analysis, or other Research Finance background
- Certification in finance/quality related such as: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), project management, Six Sigma
