Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a VDI Engineer to architect, deploy, and optimize a global Citrix-based VDI in Microsoft Azure. You will design, deploy, and tune desktop provisioning, ensuring scalability, reliability, and a strong user experience for a worldwide workforce.

The role is remote as a contract-to-hire engagement, with a competitive W2 benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and life insurance. Compensation is hourly at $65–$75 with potential conversion to FTE.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in enterprise environments.
• Extensive Azure VDI services experience (Compute, Files, NetApp, Monitor).
• Proficiency with automation/orchestration tools (PowerShell, Terraform, Azure Automation, ARM/Bicep).
• Proven ability to deploy scalable, cost-efficient, and high-performance VDI in the cloud.
• Experience with image optimization, session tuning, and capacity planning for VDI workloads.
• Knowledge of Azure AD and Conditional Access integrations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy Citrix VDI services in Azure to support global end user computing needs.
• Design, implement, and maintain dynamic scaling and automation for just-in-time desktop provisioning and efficient resource usage.
• Engineer and optimize Azure resources across compute, networking, storage, and identity for scalable and secure VDI infrastructure.
• Conduct benchmark testing of VDI images, analyze performance metrics, and implement tuning for a high-quality user experience.
• Collaborate with security, network, and support teams to meet compliance and availability standards.
• Evaluate and pilot alternative VDI platforms to compare performance, cost, and manageability.
• Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve the VDI environment for performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain documentation for architecture, deployments, performance baselines, and configuration standards.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and cloud VDI trends.
