Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Chemistry Expert (PhD) for remote, contract-based engagement in AI safety. You will write expert-level prompts on chemistry, evaluate model responses for accuracy and safety, and apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations.

Collaborate with AI research teams, work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines, and contribute to safer, higher-quality AI systems. Immediate start with 15–40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry or closely related field (ongoing or completed).
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your subfield.
• Strong scientific reasoning and writing in English.
• Sound judgment around chemical safety and the responsible handling of dual-use information.

Responsibilities
