About the Role:
Laurel Springs School is seeking an experienced, passionate, and innovative Biology educator to join our dynamic Science Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Biology and the capability to teach standard Biology courses to students in grades 9–12. This individual will lead weekly, engaging, synchronous lessons for Biology students, provide targeted academic support, and actively contribute to curriculum review and development. The successful candidate will also create meaningful enrichment opportunities to deepen student understanding and engagement with Biology concepts. A commitment to academic excellence, student-centered instruction, and creative online teaching strategies is essential. Candidates must have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students and guardians in a fully online, asynchronous learning environment that includes regular opportunities for live interaction. This full-time, 12-month remote position requires collaboration with the Science Academic Department Chair and fellow educators to ensure a cohesive and rigorous science program. Educators must be available during business hours (Eastern Time) to grade assignments, provide feedback, support students, contribute to curriculum projects, share ideas to enhance the program, and participate in meetings, office hours, and one-on-one student sessions.
General Description of Position:
A full-time teacher (grades 6-12) at Laurel Springs is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to an Academic Department Chair. Full-time teachers are responsible for direct academic support of a roster of students who are engaged in primarily asynchronous academic courses. Teachers grade and provide responsive feedback to students in the Learning Management System, meet individually with students and families, and provide warm encouragement, coaching, tutoring, and enhanced learning opportunities to students as needed. Teachers also participate in curriculum and program development, live virtual Workshops, virtual clubs/activities, and other duties as needed. This is a highly collaborative role since teachers work closely with their departments and other LSS teachers and staff. Teachers must be available during business hours (Eastern Time) to support students, collaborate with colleagues, attend meetings, and offer individual student appointments.
