Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a Billing and Coding Compliance Auditor to identify and address compliance risks in coding and documentation. This role focuses on accurate ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M coding, and DRG/APC assignments, with collaboration across departments to mitigate risk.

You will conduct proactive audits, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports while staying current with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s level or higher education is preferred but not required depending on experience.
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible related work experience required.
• EPIC EHR experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS, E/M, CPT and DRG/APC is expected.
• Ability to manage multiple audits with accuracy and timeline compliance.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and perform proactive billing and coding audits to identify errors and ensure compliance.
• Leverage auditing software to streamline processes and enhance data analysis.
• Monitor billing data and evaluate ICD/HCPCS/CPT coding accuracy and DRG/APC assignments.
• Review documentation to support billed services and identify compliance risks.
• Conduct investigations into billing/coding issues and prepare detailed reports.
• Collaborate with departments and educate staff to improve compliance training.
• Stay updated on federal and state regulations and payer guidelines.
• Assist in developing training content for revenue cycle departments.
• Provide leadership in problem identification and resolution with data-supported arguments.
