Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald, a member of Trinity Health Mid Atlantic, is seeking a per diem remote bed placement coordinator to join our team. The role requires rotating evenings/nights and the ability to work holidays and weekends as needed.

The position supports patient flow by coordinating bed assignments, admissions, transfers, and discharges while monitoring capacity and throughput. Remote work is available with onsite trainings commutable to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current State EMS licensure or significant bed planning experience in acute-care required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or to be obtained within designated timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient placement, bed assignments, admissions, transfers, and discharges to support safe, timely patient flow.
• Monitor bed capacity, census, discharge activity and staffing to identify opportunities and constraints.
• Facilitate interfacility transfer requests and document required information; coordinate communication among providers and units.
• Maintain documentation in Epic and other systems ensuring data integrity for bed management records.
• Collaborate with nursing, physicians, care management, admitting, emergency services, surgical services and other departments to move patients smoothly.
