Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is recruiting skilled Backend Developers to work on a project with a leading AI lab. This remote, part-time consultant role focuses on designing and evaluating realistic coding tasks, bug fixing, feature implementation, and testing.

You will create clear specifications and reference implementations, develop unit and integration tests, and review peer submissions for quality and accuracy. Consultants control their own schedule and may work for multiple clients.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency in English written and spoken.
• Strong knowledge of Python and JS/TS; familiarity with Java/C#/Go.
• Experience with backend or full-stack production systems.
• Experience with testing frameworks (pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, Go testing).
• Ability to navigate large multi-file codebases and perform migrations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement multi-file coding tasks across bug fixing, feature development, refactoring, and testing
• Write clear natural-language specifications and reference implementations
• Develop and extend unit and integration test suites
• Review peer-generated tasks for correctness, clarity, and realism
• Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure modes
• Ensure alignment between specifications, code, and expected outputs
• Contribute to high-quality, production-realistic coding tasks and artifacts
